Plattsburgh State brought the game to within one in the second period, but Oswego rattled off three goal in 2:15 toward the end of the period and the Lakers went on to claim the SUNYAC championship and earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament with a 6-3 win.

A balanced Oswego attack saw 11 players hit the scoresheet and only two with more than one point.

Paul Rodrigues got the Lakers (25-2) on the board at 9:32 of the first period.

Owen Kelly followed up about four minutes later to put the Lakers up by two. PSUC (18-5-4) outshot Oswego, 10-8, in the period.

Midway through the second, PSUC's Andrew Willock potted his sixth goal of the season to cut the lead to one, but the Cards never got closer than that.

At 16:11 of the third, the Laker onslaught began.

Kevin Huinink put the Lakers up, 3-1, on an unassisted goal.

One minute, 53 seconds later, Andrew Mather stretched the lead to 4-1.

Before the period could expire, Taylor Farris put the Lakers up, 5-1, 24 seconds later.

PSUC goaltender Ryan Williams allowed five goals on 14 shots and was pulled for the third period.

Josh Leis made eight saves in the relief effort, allowing one goal.

With less than five minutes to go in the game, PSUC connected for two power-play goals, one by Dylan Clarke and the other by Eric Satim, to bring the score to 6-3.

PSUC outshot the Lakers, 38-23, for the game. Kyle Gunn-Taylor, who was pulled from last weekend's SUNYAC semifinal game against Morrsville after allowing three goals on five shots, made 35 saves Saturday night in the Laker win.

The Cardinals will have to wait until Monday morning to see if they will get an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. The tournament selections will be announced 6 p.m. Sunday on ncaa.com.
