Despite neither team coming up with a conference championship to get an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, both the Plattsburgh State men's and women's hockey teams received at-large bids into the NCAA tournament.

The men, who fell, 6-3, to Oswego in the SUNYAC championship game Saturday night, will travel to Middlebury for a quarterfinal game, after receiving a first-round bye.

The women, who dropped their third straight ECAC-West championship game to Elmira Sunday afternoon, will play host to ECAC-East champion Norwich — making its second-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Earlier in the season, the men traveled to Middlebury and gave up three early goals to lose, 5-3, in a midweek game.

Hosting Norwich at the end of January, the Lady Cardinals defeated the Cadets, 7-2, on home ice.

The women will play at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stafford Ice Arena. The men's game is slated to start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Chip Kenyon Arena in Middlebury.
