The Plattsburgh State men’s soccer continued its impressive play Saturday afternoon, beating Buffalo State, 4-1, and extending its latest winning streak to five.

It didn’t take long for PSUC (15-1-0, 6-1-0) to get on the board as Matt Hamilton connected on an indirect kick in the 13th minute to put the Cardinals ahead, 1-0. The goal marked Hamilton’s eighth of the season.

Later in the first half, the Cards were at it again when Steve Zacharczyk received a through pass from Nick Parrella and was able to beat Buffalo State (1-12-1, 0-6-1) goalkeeper Ian Huntoon one-on-one to put PSUC up, 2-0, in the 30th minute.

In the 58th minute, Parrella was able to get a goal of his own. He received a pass from Jarred Antonucci and dropped the ball up and over the goalkeeper from 20 yards out to make the score 3-0. The goal marked Parrella’s fifth of the season.

Buffalo State was able to respond with a goal of its own when C.J. Scirto beat his defender and drilled the ball past PSUC goalkeeper Zack Kruizenga in the 66th minute to make the score 3-1.

Zacharczyk scored once more, when he went unassisted and put ball past Huntoon in the 80th minute.

With the victory, the Cards improve to second in the SUNYAC standings behind Brockport, which is also 6-1 in the conference.

PSUC will have a chance to face Brockport next weekend when at home Saturday at 2 p.m.
