Plattsburgh State’s Student Association is revamping its current Web site, making it both accessible and more appealing to the student body.

Student Sen. Nate Hill, who is spearheading the program, said a new Web site is a necessity, as improving upon the Web site would improve the SA-student relationship, which is an important goal of the SA.

“It would create a place where students could voice their concerns and we could respond,” Hill said. “We need to show students just where their SA fees are going.”

Hill said the project is still in its infancy, and it will be some time before the finished product is seen.

“By the end of this semester you should at least see something up (online),” he said.

The SA has already met with two Web producers to start sharing ideas.

Freshman Mike Brennan, who attended these meetings, spoke highly of the project.

“It’s a very good plan; we have a very strong Web designer ready to help us out and we are putting in a lot of ideas, so I think the Web site would be just what we want for our student body, “ Brennan said.

He said the new Web site could help in a variety of ways, from seeing what events are going on, to scanning through the different clubs students can join.

Financial and club forms would also be available for download directly from the proposed Web site.

While the SA already has a Web site, it is outdated and contains none of the current members on its listing.

Students have noticed the present state of the Web site, which can harm the reputation of the SA.

“The Web site they have now needs to be updated so that people can get more information,” junior Mamadou Diallo said.

The SA is now attempting to take a more professional approach by developing a Web site that is more aesthetically pleasing, reliable and frequently updated.

The plan is for the projected Web site to resemble the theme of the PSUC Web site and to be accessed directly from the school’s home page.

“Having a fully functional Web site is a great initiative by the SA,” junior Erin Jackson said. “I hope this actually happens.”
