Professor dies suddenly from pancreatic cancer

English, journalism instructor Dennis Aprill passes away Saturday

Professor of English and journalism classes and Plattsburgh State Dennis Aprill died suddenly Saturday night, the result of an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, according to a report in the Press-Republican.

Aprill was known as an outdoorsman, writing a weekly column for the Press-Republican about outdoor life in the Adirondacks. He was the editor of Good Fishing in the Adirondacks and wrote articles that were published in various magazines.

Aprill involved himself with organizations, including being a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, the New York State Outdoor Writers Association and the New England Outdoor Writers Association, according to a biography on finefishing.com where Aprill was the Adirondack editor.
