Six games in the books, and six wins to go along.
The undefeated Plattsburgh State men's hockey team travels to Potsdam Saturday night to face an upset-minded Bears team who shocked the Cardinal faithful last year at the Stafford Ice Arena.
PSUC Head Coach Bob Emery expects Saturday's road game to be even more of a challenge with Potsdam's improved, well-coached team.
"Potsdam is always real tough at their place," Head Coach Bob Emery said. "In my career, we've had a lot of bad losses over there."
Cardinal goaltender Bryan Hince, who doubled last season's shutout count with two last weekend in his team's 5-0 victories over Brockport and Geneseo, said while Friday's win over Brockport was filled with struggles throughout the game, Saturday's matchup with the Knights was more of a "complete" showing.
He thanked the teammates in front of him for their solid play in the 10-0 scoring margin.
"Without the defensive presence, none of those two shutouts would have happened," he said.
Potsdam enters Saturday's game with a 2-3-2 record, going 2-2-1 in the SUNYAC thus far.
The meeting will mark the Cards' fourth consecutive road game, and the team still has two more away games at the Primelink Shootout in Norwich next weekend before returning home for a huge test against Oswego.
"I think as we continue our road trip our mindset is just to play one game at a time, try to win the next period and not worry about anything else," Hince said. "We have always said that since day one and will continue to until the end of the season."
Potsdam swapped road games with PSUC last weekend, facing Geneseo Friday night and Brockport Saturday.
The Bears dropped a 7-2 loss against Brockport, and tied the Knights the following evening.
PSUC has outscored opponents 33-10 this season, while the Bears have allowed 30 scores - reaching the back of the net 26 times.
The Cards' high-powered offense and stout defense has carried on from last season, but the team would rather look at the 2007-08 team in a different light than this year's squad.
