The team is coming off a disappointing 5-19 season where it finished with 13 straight losses, but the team isn't worried about what happened last season.
"We're looking to come out incredibly intense," Head Coach Cheryl Cole said. "And we're going to be looking to run, push the tempo and control the boards."
Cole feels that in order for the team to reach the SUNYAC tournament this year, everybody needs to play their game and be aggressive.
"Everybody needs to step up, play their game and not look for (anybody) else to do it," she said.
Freshman Erin Silberberg is expecting much of the same.
"My goals for the season are to improve as a player, team and to attend the SUNYAC (tournament)," Silberberg said. "My expectations for the season are to win."
Fellow freshman Kristen Licata said: "The team needs to start off strong and remain as strong - if not stronger - throughout the entire season. We need to exploit other team's weaknesses and use our strengths to be successful."
Licata and Silberberg are two of just five freshmen that make up the 12-person roster, but the team isn't worried about the inexperience its new players have.
"There's a lot of good things about youth and a lot of learning curves," Cole said. "They're all going to contribute very early. We brought them in to play. We didn't bring them in to develop them for a couple of years. Every day in practice they raise their intensity level. They'll be ready."
Silberberg said she isn't too concerned because the team plays well together.
"We each give each other that extra push that brings us all together," Silberberg said.
The team will begin its season tomorrow when it hosts non-conference Norwich. Cole sees the game as great preparation for the Lady Cards' conference games that begin on Dec. 5 against Brockport.
