The final meet of the season has come and the Plattsburgh State tennis team will take its 1-8 overall record to the SUNYAC championships.
The Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, N.Y., and New Paltz are hosting the tournament. New Paltz will be looking for its third consecutive SUNYAC title. The Hawks are 6-3 on the season and are coming off a 9-0 loss to Vassar Wednesday.
A victory against Oswego Sept. 14 is the Lady Cards lone win of the season. Against SUNYAC opponents on the year, the Lady Cards went 1-7.
Aside from the 5-4 win over Oswego, the Lady Cards have not tallied more than two match victories in one meet.
Geneseo swept its conference and non-conference schedule to go a perfect 10-0 and enter the SUNYAC tournament as the top seed. The Knights finished just three points behind New Paltz in the championships last season and took home second place.
The Lady Cards have the worst record in the SUNYAC and will be the lowest seed in the championships, but Head Coach Mark Stata's philosophy has been about improvement.
The championship begins tonight and runs through Sunday.
