The Plattsburgh State's men's and women's cross country teams finished well at the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday, each placing top three positions at the event.

The men finished second out of 10 teams, and the women finished third out of 11.

Both teams have to be satisfied with their finishes as they weren't too concerned about heading into the event, treating it as a warm up for the Championship meets coming up in a few short weeks.

Sophomore Mike Heymann was once again the top runner for the PSUC men, finishing in second place with the time of 26 minutes, 26 seconds. Junior Alex Sico also finished in the top 10 with his ninth place time of 27 minutes, 10 seconds. Three more finished in the top 20: Junior Paul Allison, 13th; Junior Ben Jackson, 14th; and sophomore Bobby Grimm, 17th.

On the women's side Junior Jennifer Schaffhouser was the first PSUC women's runner to cross the finish line, as she finished third with the time of 18 minutes, 8 seconds. Two more PSUC women runners finished in the top 25: Freshman Colleen Cotey, 20th; and Senior Jen Taft, 24th.

Both teams are looking good heading into the final weeks of the season. Their next event will be the Race Against Cancer Relay for Life Event at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse next Saturday.

There are only two more meets left before the SUNYAC Championships at Geneseo's Letchworth Park Saturday, Nov. 1.
