Notario said it seems that online classes are a bit more time consuming because the student needs to get all the information by reading , but, in regular class, professors are always updating students on a regular basis, reminding them of assignments and due dates.
To teach students in online classes, Notario said of her efforts, "I have two ways to communicate with my student - e-mail and Skype."
She said all of her students get a free account on Skype and they can chat with her or talk over the computer whenever they need her. She also said if she is not there when they call her, they can leave a time in which she can reach them. She uses Skype, a way of having a group phone conference, before she arranges the schedule.
Notario explained the difficulties of teaching students in online classes.
"Online classes require a lot of time with respect to class preparation. You also need to be good at providing the students with clear instructions on any work that they need to do, and you need to be easily available, at least through e-mail."
Notario said she hopes to develop the best personal relationship with students she can.
"I want them to contact me at any time when they encounter difficulties, or need further clarification on any point," she said. "I want them to know the way I work as soon as possible, so they can feel comfortable and confident with our class."
