The cost of obtaining an enhanced license is between $30 and $50, while the cost of a passport is $100.

"When I heard that I would need a passport to get into Canada, I went out and spent $100 on a passport," sophomore Kyle Fenton said. "Then, they kept pushing back the date that I would need to have it with me. Now, they're saying I could have just added something onto my license for $40."

Others see advantages to owning a passport rather than an enhanced license, however.

"I went out and got a passport when they said we would need it to get into Canada," sophomore Kyle Fenton said. "Even though we still don't need it, I'm thinking about studying abroad, so I'm sure I'll need the actual passport eventually."

Students can apply for a passport at the Alumni Conference Room between 2 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. They will need to bring proof of identification, such as a driver's license; proof of citizenship, for example, a birth certificate; two identical two by two photos and the current passport fee of $100.

Students interested in obtaining an enhanced driver's license should go the Department of Motor Vehicles.
