Williams sets CBI all-time single-game mark with 34 points

WADSWORTH, OHIO - Anthony Williams of Plattsburgh State scored a CBI Tournament single-game record 34 points and DeAndre Townsend also made history with his 17 assists as Renacci-Doraty Chevrolet cruised to a 125-99 win over MBM Logistechs to win the fifth-place game in the 2008 Collegiate Basketball Invitational.

Williams only missed two of his 14 attempts in his record breaking game as he hit 4-5 from behind the three-point line. Townsend used his record single game-high 17 assists in the win to give him also the tournament record of 33. Others scoring in double figures were Brad Harris of Lee with 19, Collins Harris of Drury with 17, Tramaine Stevens of Florida Memorial with 15, Marko Kolaric of Chaminade with 14 and Brian Monahan of St. Michael's with 12 points.

Leading the way for MBM Logistechs was Ben Strong of Guilford with 21, while Josh Porter of LSU-Shreveport added 19. Brad Byerson of Virginia Union pumped in 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds with Texas A&M-Commerce's Scooby Johnson posting 12 points and seven rebounds with Wille Irick adding 12 points as well.

The Collegiate Basketball Invitational is a major national basketball event that gathers the finest 64 senior men's basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and Division II.

The event will take place at Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio, and each team will have eight players in eight-team bracket. Six games will be played both Thursday and Friday with the championship game being played Friday night at 8 p.m. (ET). The CBI will conclude with an all-star game Saturday evening at 8 p.m. (ET) in front of a live, ESPNU audience as 20 players will selected to play in the game.
