Many students on this campus probably strongly disagree with Bryan Ensel and the Activities Coordination Board's decision to re-shape what we all knew as Springfest.

Students might feel their opinions have been left out and the new programs of the ACB are a waste of their tuition money. They may think the idea is stupid and they could do a better job making these decisions for some 6,000-plus students all by themselves.

This most likely includes you.

The Student Association's constitution states that "all full-time and part-time matriculated undergraduates and graduate students of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, who pay the prescribed student activity fee, shall be members of the Plattsburgh State Student Association with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities in any activity to which the authority of the Constitution extends."

This, also, most likely includes you.

So while students complain about Springfest year after year, they are the ones responsible for it not working out.

You have an opinion. You have a voice. Students know if they want to express concerns, they can turn to the SA for help. Students are the ones being lazy. The reason why the student body may not be happy with what Springfest has turned into is they are the ones who don't go to the meetings or let any of the student senators know how they feel.

Students are just as responsible for the Springfest situation as anyone else.

Ensel is in a position where he is trying to please everyone. Working with the lack of input from students, maybe this new spring music series isn't such a bad idea. Yet it seems the only time students actually voice their opinions is when they are angry about something, rather than lending another perspective or an idea to a committee which tries to please everyone.

This most likely includes you.

The ACB isn't purposely trying to upset you, it's actually the opposite. Bringing in different music acts from different genres throughout the year will eventually please more people than Naughty By Nature did last year.

Some students may complain that their entire day of drinking before Springfest is now ruined, but how many actually went to the concert after drinking all day? Not having a concert isn't going to stop you from doing something you probably would have been doing anyway.

So if students are upset about not having the traditional Springfest like we've had the past few years, the only ones to blame for that are themselves. The ACB and SA have posters plastered all over the college center, so students might want to open their eyes and stop complaining.
