Greetings Cardinal sports fans!
Welcome back to Plattsburgh and welcome back to Cardinal Points.
Our first issue of any semester is always exciting, but this semester is even more so thanks to some noticeable changes to the sports section.
Since you have made it all the way to page four (or, if you're reading this on the web, you have made it all the way to the fourth sentence), I'm sure you noticed the game stories are a lot different than from what you have read in the past.
No longer will you find game recaps in the print version of Cardinal Points. Who wants to read about a game on Friday that happened last weekend?
It's a change that should have been implemented long ago, and I apologize for not doing it sooner.
From here on out most sports will be handled in an advance manner for print stories. When you pick up the paper, you can read timely stories about upcoming games.
If you love reading game recaps, don't fret. Every game will be getting a game recap - all you need to do is keep an eye on the www.cardinalpointsonline.com the night of the game, or in the case of some away games, the next day.
The game recaps will be there waiting for you.
"In the Cards," our designated player-profile story in each issue, will also be undergoing a change. Sometimes you will see it as it has always been, other times it will be relocated, possibly to the front page.
This gives us flexibility to showcase some really interesting profiles so you can get to know your favorite athletes better.
Occasionally, even this column will disappear for a week or two. Since we try and keep the column college-oriented, there isn't always something strong to write about. The space can be utilized for more stories and better looking layout.
Speaking of better looking layout, I hope you enjoy the "opponent breakdown" boxes that give a quick bit of insight into the teams trying to beat our Cardinals.
Be sure to keep an eye out for our future preview stories on upcoming spring sports. Get your fix before the season starts!
I'm always interested in reader feedback. Is there something you like or dislike about our new designs? Maybe you just want to make a suggestion about a possible future story.
Just send an e-mail my way at sports@cardinalpointsonline.com and I'll try and get back to you as soon as possible.
And as always, we're sticklers for accuracy, especially with sports where so many numbers are floated around.
If you catch a mistake or think there might be a mistake, please let us know.
Thank you for reading!
