Women's hockey team goes 2-1 in exhibition play
Lady Cardinals return to ECAC-West action this weekend

The No. 1 ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team went 2-1 in exhibition play this past weekend when it participated in the Theresa Humes Tournament at Concordia University in Montreal.
The games were the Lady Cardinals' first since Dec. 8.
They re-start ECAC-West play this weekend at Utica College.
The Lady Cards suffered a 3-2 loss Friday to the Ottawa Gee Gees to open tournament play.
All five goals in the game were of the special teams' variety - four power play goals and one shorthanded goal.
Sophomore Laurie Bowler tallied one of the power play goals for the Lady Cards while freshman teammate Kara Buehler notched the lone short-handed mark.
The Lady Cards were out shot at a 24-23 clip.
Saturday's action placed the Lady Cards against the Moncton Aigles Bleus.
The Lady Cards scored twice in the third period courtesy of junior Shay Bywater and sophomore Steph Moberg to break a 2-2 tie. Junior Danielle Beattie stopped all six shots she faced in the frame as the Lady Cards coasted to a 4-2 victory.
Junior Danielle Blanchard, the leading point-getter in NCAA Division III at 24 (16 G, 8 A), had a goal and two assists in the game for the Lady Cards.
The Lady Cards took an alarming number of penalties - 16, totaling 32 minutes - but yielded only one power play goal against in the contest.
In Sunday's play, the Lady Cards squared off against the Guelph Gryphons.
Freshman Steph Moon opened the scoring at 14:44 in the first period to give the Lady Cards a 1-0 lead.
Senior Sharis Smith and Blanchard had a goal each and Beattie turned aside all 17 shots against her to help the Lady Cards to a 3-0 victory.
The results of the three games will not count toward PSUC's NCAA record or players' individual statistics for the season.
This weekend the Lady Cards take their 6-0 conference record into Utica College for ECAC West second semester play.
The Pioneers are ranked fourth in the ECAC-West with a 3-0 conference record. They are 7-4 overall.
The games will feature the Lady Cards' top ranked ECAC-West offense (5.17 G/GM) against Utica's third ranked offense (4.18 G/GM)
Last season, the Pioneers forced one of the Lady Cards' two ties, but lost the other match-up.
They lost in the semifinals of the 2007 ECAC-West tournament to Elmira, 1-0.
The Pioneers have two of the top 10 scorers in the ECAC-West, Andrea Maxon and Samantha Rowan, each with 14 points.
Goalie Jill Doherty is ranked third in goals-against-average (1.49) behind PSUC's Beattie (1.22) and former Lady Cardinal Sandra Grant (1.45), of RIT.
Doherty's .941 save percentage is best in the conference.
