After dropping two games in a row, the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team took out its frustration on SUNY Purchase, steamrolling the Panthers 98-61 at the Viniar Athletic Center in the consolation game of the Sig Makofski Invitational Tournament hosted by Union College.
The No. 19 ranked Cardinals (8-2), who were upset by Gordon College last night in the opening round, started the game with an 11-0 burst and never looked back.
Senior Anthony Williams, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the Cardinals with a game-high 27 points. Senior Travis Gorham picked up his second double-double of the tournament, scoring 12 points and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Antwane Miller chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and four assists.
Freshman Tyriq Harrington led the outmatched Panthers (2-9) with 17 points and went a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Junior Kazeem Famuyide added 12.
The win marked the last non-conference game for PSUC until February. The Cardinals resume SUNYAC conference play when they travel to Fredonia on Jan. 11 to take on the 5-5 Blue Devils (0-2 in SUNYAC play).
The Cardinals defeated Oswego 86-81 and Morrisville 111-69 in its only two SUNYAC games so far this season.
