The Lady Cardinals' basketball team is winning where it matters most.
The team won their first conference game last weekend against Morrisville 65-48, but lost against Clarkson 54-43 on Tuesday.
This gives the Lady Cards a 2-3 record overall, 1-0 in the SUNYAC.
The next game against Oswego tonight will be a very important game as it is their second conference game.
The team lost both games against Oswego last year. Oswego has a new head coach and four of their top players from last season graduated.
Coming off the loss against Clarkson, the Lady Cards have a better feeling for what they need to do against Oswego.
"We need to go in confident and support each other," sophomore Casey Clark said.
Despite graduating four seniors, Oswego will still start four seniors and have plenty of depth on the roster, Plattsburgh State Head Coach Cheryl Cole said.
"We'll have to put them in their place early," she said. "They have experience and we need to be better than them."
Against Morrisville, senior captain Jacee Sutton went 6-13 from the field and finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
"I came out shooting, and they went in," Sutton said. "Everyone fed off the energy and we passed the ball real well."
Junior captain Megan Lynch went down with an injury in Morrisville and was unable to play against Clarkson.
Her knee was sprained earlier in the year. She went into the game and after a minute she took herself out of the game because it did not feel right.
Her absence against Clarkson did have had an impact on the game.
"When she's not there it is tough for me," sophomore Shoshana Harris said.
She will be ready for the game against Oswego.
"I'm pumped and I'm ready to play," Lynch said.
Her knee feels fine and should not be a problem against Oswego.
The team had a difficult time making shots against Clarkson, hitting only 26 percent of their shots from the field.
