As if the thought of going in for surgery wasn't scary enough, try being awake for the entire thing.

That in itself, makes for a good movie.

The movie "Awake" tells the story of the young business tycoon billionaire Clay Beresford, who is played by the hotness, Hayden Christensen. Beresford's significant other, Sam Lockwood (played by female hotness Jessica Alba) is the other lead role in the movie. The two share a steamy love scene in a bathtub which can be seen as a turn on for either gender. But anyway, that's not the story, the two are keeping their relationship a secret because Lockwood is actually Beresford's mother's assistant. And the mother is not a fan of Lockwood.

Beresford has a heart condition, which caused him to have a heart attack and meet Dr. Jack Harper (played by Terrence Howard), who becomes a friend and confidante. Harper has a sit down with Beresford and tells him that his condition will seriously affect his life sooner than later.

Apparently his heart condition will limit his life and that his blood type is so rare and not compatible, making it hard for a transplant to happen.

Harper convinces him that he should have the surgery if it's possible because it will enhance his life, and that he should marry Lockwood, because if he really loves her, he should show it in the best way possible.

So Beresford tells his mother that he is marrying Lockwood, and they wed the next day. Surprisingly and ironically enough, there is a heart of the right blood type available the very next day. Harper warns Beresford that going through with the surgery will only give him a 50/50 chance of survival and that he should get all his things in order, just in case.

Despite advice from his mother, Beresford goes through with the surgery with Harper, even though he has malpractice suits against him and isn't the best surgeon around. But Beresford feels the need to support his friend. Before the surgery, the anesthesiologist has a mental breakdown and leaves before the surgery, causing the team to bring in another anesthesiologist from another hospital.
