I have to say, I'm jealous of the sports section this year.

Another great men's soccer season, along with the women's team finally getting its respect.

A women's cross country NCAA trip, which one of our writers actually got to cover first-hand over in Minnesota.

But this is the time of year when Cardinal sports are at their best.

Three of the best SUNYAC and Division III ECAC teams call Plattsburgh their home. That's impressive.

Women's hockey, the obvious favorite, suffered its first loss in 30-something games.

And yes, this does end a national all-division record streak, but it's not necessarily a bad thing.

They can step back, get grounded, go back to the drawing board thus making the team that much more powerful.

Kanye was right. "That that don't kill me can only make me stronger."

And stronger, they should get. Who's to say the team didn't win the first game of an upcoming 50-game streak this weekend.

Then there's men's hockey. Now I will admit (because it's kind of OK to say this because I'm not sports editor anymore) that I'm biased to the team.

While doing rink-side interviews during the PrimeLink webcast, I saw something.

We're good this year.

Better than I've seen in the last three years I've been here. And I mean, take that as you will.

I'm no hockey expert but I have been following this team for quite some time now.

After a shaky start last season, the men's hockey team is currently playing in it's best season since 2003.

The Cards made it to the NCAA Division III semifinal game where they lost to St. Norbert.

Oddly enough, the last 7 of 9 PrimeLink champs have made it to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four. And which team won this year?

Your Plattsburgh State Cardinals.

And last but not least, the men's basketball team.

It's been said so many times that they are coming off back-to-back SUNYAC championship seasons and they're going to be good... yada, yada, yada.

Who says they can't be better?

It's still early in the season but I see big things coming from this team.

Big as in winning games, and big as in, well, they got some big boys.

So all in all, look for a great last two weekends of Cardinal sports here on campus. Hockey, hockey and basketball will have stellar seasons as they have been the past few years.

(Enter non-obvious plug for PSTV's "Cardinal Sports Live" every night at 8:30 p.m. and live on Tuesday nights...not to mention "Cardinal Hockey" this weekend...and "Cardinal Basketball" next weekend campus channel 10 and Charter channel 17)

This is our job - to bring you the news about Cardinal sports.

So only look for the news to get better and better for next year, along with your Cardinal Points sports coverage.
