Women's hockey remains in first, men move up to third

The Plattsburgh State women's hockey team retained their top spot in the Division III national rankings by U.S. College Hockey Online, while the men's team moved up four spots to No. 3.
The Lady Cardinals' record NCAA all-division 35-game unbeaten streak came to a close last weekend after splitting two games with the nationally-ranked Manhattanville College Valiants, who moved into a tie with Elmira for the No. 5 position in the latest USCHO poll.
Despite holding onto the top spot, the Lady Cardinals received only seven of 15 first place votes. It was the first time this season the Lady Cards did not receive all first place votes.
Ranked seventh last week, the men's hockey team vaulted up to the third spot in the Division III men's poll after beating St. John's (Minn.) and then-No. 11 ranked Norwich to take the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout title on home ice over the weekend.
Wis.-River Falls remains in first place and Hobart moved up a spot to second. SUNYAC-rival Oswego retained its twelfth place ranking for the second consecutive week.
