No. 4 ranked men's hockey upset by No. 8 Soaring Eagles

Two goals scored in under two minutes of each other in the third period propelled the No. 8 ranked Elmira Soaring Eagles to an upset 3-2 win over No. 4 Plattsburgh State tonight at the Murray Athletic Center, giving the Cardinals their first loss of the season.
The Cardinals were first on the board after freshman Ryan Corry scored on assists from fellow freshman Dan Sliasis and junior Riley Hill less than four minutes into the game.
Both teams traded goals in the second period. A little over halfway through the third period, Elmira forward David McKenna netted his first goal of the season with assists from Albert Mitchell and Scott Gamble. A little over a minute later, Nicolas Dumoulin put the Soaring Eagles up for the good.
The Cardinals (7-1 overall, 7-0 in the SUNYAC) committed a season high seven penalties, and the Soaring Eagles converted one of them into the early tying score.
It was also the first time the Cardinals were out-shot in a game, with Elmira (5-0-1 overall) edging them 31-24.
Cardinal freshman goalie Bryan Hince took his first loss of the season (5-1-0).
