Freshman Bryan Hince's 40-shot shutout against the defending SUNYAC champion Fredonia last Saturday improved fourth ranked Plattsburgh State's record to 7-0, both in the conference and overall.
The unbeaten Cards travel to Elmira tomorrow night for a non-conference battle against the eighth ranked Soaring Eagles.
PSUC looks to settle the score after tying Elmira last season at home.
The Cards' high-powered offense will be an interesting match-up with Elmira's defensive-minded squad.
"They're probably the best defensive corps in the country," PSUC Head Coach Bob Emery said. "They've got some real good defensive players. We've got to try to get out there and use our skating abilities by our forwards - try to put pressure on them and try to play the game in their end."
Though Elmira is not a SUNYAC team, tomorrow's game is just as important as any in-conference game.
"Looking back on Oswego last year, these non-league games are what got them into the NCAA tournament - so this is a big game for us," Emery said. "In the NCAA, all the games are equal - it's a good game that way."
Last weekend, PSUC continued their dominance of opponents, outscoring them 9-1.
The Cardinals beat the Blue Devils 3-0, following a 6-1 victory on Friday night at Buffalo State.
PSUC's special teams units continued to shine against Buffalo State, as the Cardinals tallied five power-play goals on ten chances and gave up zero goals on four of the Bengals man-advantage chances.
Emery said the game against the Buffalo State was the best complete game all year, regardless of the Bengals recent struggles.
"I thought we controlled the whole game against Buff State," Emery said. "It was a real good 60 minutes."
Junior Riley Hill was responsible for two goals, one of which was a power-play score less than two minutes into the game. Junior Mike Thomson and sophomore Phil Farrow were both credited with a goal and an assist each in the game, while freshman Dylan Clarke and senior C.J Tozzo tallied a goal each.
