The Plattsburgh State men's rugby team was directed Monday to stop all activities, with the exception of practice and games, pending the results of an investigation into a hazing incident that allegedly took place Saturday night at an off-campus location.
Vice President for Student Affairs William Laundry was informed of the allegations Monday by University Police assistant chief Jerry Lottie.
The case has now been turned over to the City of Plattsburgh Police Department.
Laundry said it is the only time he can recall that a Student Association club has been investigated for hazing.
Physical Education and Recreation Sports Coordinator Leith Bardon said she talked to the athletes and told them to cooperate with the investigation. She said she is not involved in the investigation and was only notified of the allegations.
Club captain Bryan Kuenzel did not immediately return calls for comment.
