It is a time of year when school spirit is abundant - when Plattsburgh students of past and present can share the common bond of having attended the same university, walked the same halls and shared in many of the same experiences.
This is Plattsburgh State's Homecoming Weekend.
Rose Anderson, director of alumni affairs, calls homecoming "a time that everyone here really enjoys seeing the spirit of Plattsburgh - it's nice that students can see and mingle with alumni students because Plattsburgh State is something they have in common, regardless of age."
Anderson is part of a homecoming planning committee that has been working on the events of Homecoming Weekend 2007 for over a year.
This year's itinerary includes a wide range of events which began Thursday night with a 5:30 p.m. dinner with the Presidents.
Guests who had already arrived on Thursday were invited to dine at Samuel D's with College President John Ettling, Student Association President Kim Garrison and President of the Alumni Association Douglas McManus.
Other events of the weekend include a golf outing on Friday morning at Barracks Golf Course, a Fraternity/Sorority Alumni luncheon at the Angell College Center at noon on Saturday, welcome back tours of campus on Saturday at 3 p.m. and a Gospel Choir performance at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
There will also be a semi-formal homecoming dinner on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Warren Ballrooms.
This year's theme is "Roll Out the Red Carpet" and will be followed by the second annual Homecoming Dance-off beginning at 9:30 p.m., hosted by the Student Association.
The Alumni and Friends Association has also planned many events honoring classes celebrating an anniversary.
"We will honor any classes ending in a two or a seven from 1977 back," Anderson said. "We do special brunches."
The alumni reunion brunches for these classes will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Comfort Inn.
