If I hear the word "youuuuuu" one more time, I might have to punch my computer.
This album from Soulja Boy is completely repetitive, except for maybe two or three decent songs.
Soulja Boy was a guest on MTV's Total Request Live on Tuesday, Oct. 2. He then explained how his music was discovered. Apparently Soulja Boy would download a popular rap/hip-hop song, keep the same name of the artist and song title but put his song as the track.
So if you were one of those people looking to download the new Justin Timberlake songs about a year ago, I apologize if this came up - I'd be annoyed too.
The blow-up single off the album, "Crank That," is one of the catchier songs on the album. It's kind of good if you listen to it once or twice. Listen to it more than three times in a day and that's pushing it.
"Youuuuuu."
The next song, "Sidekick," is well, about his sidekick. If you can spend the four minutes of the song listening to him say "my sidekick," over and over and over again, you have more tolerance than I do.
"Snap and Roll," the next song features the perpetual "youuuuu" - so original. This song, like the others on the album so far are extremely repetitive, but you can bounce to them which is probably why I haven't stopped playing the CD as of yet.
"Bapes" is about shoes, I think. I had to resort to urbandictionary.com to see that it was about some Japanese clothing. I don't get it.
"Let Me Get 'em" is about shooting people and saying "aayyy." Once again, full of repetitive lyrics and a lack of creativity.
"Donk" - skip.
"Yahhh!" has this weird guy trying to talk in an Arab accent which ruins the whole track. This song, as with few others on the CD have a decent "I can bump to this" kind of beat but the constant repetitions and annoying shouting makes these songs borderline intolerable.
"Pass it to Arab" - don't waste your time, skip.
"Soulja Girl" might be one of the only tracks that I listened to from beginning to end. I feel that Soulja Boy should stick to these kind of R&B songs rather than trying to be a hard-core rapper. And yes, the "youuuuuu" made a comeback appearance in this song also. I think there might only be three songs where he doesn't continually yell "youuuuuu" 58 times.
"Booty Meat"? Why? You're 16 years old - come on, now.
That being said, Soulja Boy being only 16 years old may explain the immaturity of this album. This song, surprisingly, just repeats "shake that booty meat" for three and a half minutes.
The next song, "Thirsty," is stupid. It's one of those songs with the message "I'm the bomb and every girl that walks by wants me" - please.
"Don't Get Mad" is ironically the last song on the CD. Don't get mad you just wasted an hour listening to the whole CD.
If I had to sum up this album in Soulja Boy style, I would say, "youuuuuu don't buy this, youuuuuu don't buy this, youuuuuu don't buy this."

i found your review intensely bland. how about paying a little respect to the BEATS.

agreed. show some respect for the BEATS. just because you don't like rap doesn't mean you have a right to bash it like you do in this review. when i listen to rap, i hardly even pay attention to the lyrics. (Continued…)
