The Cardinal's Regional rivals, Middlebury (ranked 23rd), will also be attending.
"The goal, for our women in this meet, is to get as close to Williams and Amherst as possible or even defeat them," Lynch said. "The key to this success would be to get our gap time from our 1-4 girls down to 90 seconds and 1-5 to 2:30."
Busby said she is "just coming back around" and is very optimistic about this season, "with Toni, myself, and Alyssa all seniors, this is the year to do it."
The Cardinal women have a difficult interval workout scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday in preparation for this weekend's meet.
In the men's race, the goal of the team has shifted from finishing times to performance.
Lynch said, "this course should be a little more taxing, and definitely slower than last weekend's, and it won't be about time, it will be about competing for 26-27 minutes, because if we focus on time it will just be a disappointment."
With a handful of young runners, the Plattsburgh State men's team is still in the process of learning how to run the 8k distance.
The transition from high school to college brings the challenge of moving up from the 5k distance to the 8k.
Lynch said the transition is another goal for the Cardinal men at the Purple classic.
"It's just about peaking at the right time," he said.
