Last year the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team took home the NCAA Division III title, beating three-time defending champion Middlebury College, finishing off an undefeated 27-0-2 record.
The men's basketball team won the SUNYAC conference title for the second year in a row, made it to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament and posted a school record 21-win season.
Although the women's softball team lost in the SUNYAC title game against Cortland, they won several NCAA Division III tournament games and ended the season ranked #4 in the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association Top 25 rankings for Division III schools.
Get excited Cardinal fans, this season could see a lot more championships and trophies.
The men's and women's soccer teams have both run off a perfect 6-0 record, taking down SUNYAC and non-conference opponents.
The men's team hasn't allowed a single goal all season.
Men's basketball lost only two seniors and have several dominant and experienced returners as they look to earn dynasty status with a third straight SUNYAC title.
Senior guard Anthony Williams piled up awards in the offseason. In addition to being named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Upstate Men's Basketball Player of the Year, he was voted as SUNYAC Player of the Year, to name a few.
He'll be paired up with double-double machine Travis Gorham, a senior who matches his offensive prowess with tenacious defense.
The women's hockey team may only be losing two senior. One of them being three-year starting goalie Bree Doyle, who led the ECAC-West in goals-against average (1.36), save percentage (.934) and winning percentage (.957; 21-0-2) while leading the nation with 21 victories.
The Cardinals have two players waiting in the wings who posted superb statistics in limited time last year.
Sophomores Danielle Beattie and Sandra Grant combined for a .961 save percentage.
Match that with the offensive prowess of Danielle Blanchard, Laurie Bowler and Lindsay Brown, a defense led by senior defenseman Julie Devereux and theres little doubt they can pull off a Division III Championship repeat.
