After last season, Women's Soccer Head Coach Karen Waterbury knew she needed to add more scoring threats to compliment an already solid team.
Enter Elizabeth Radigan.
Fresh out of high school, Radigan has paired up with fellow freshman Helen Giroux to provide one of the most potent scoring duos in the SUNYACs, combining for 14 goals over six games to help lead the Cardinals to a perfect record.
Radigan, a Troy native, is currently tied for first in the SUNYAC conference in goals per game (1.5) and goals (9). She is tied for second in points (19), points per game (3.17) and game-winning goals (2).
She alone leads the Cardinals in all those categories except for game-winning goals, which is shared with Kristen Lavigne.
Her dominance early in the season earned her Women's Soccer SUNYAC Player of the Week honors, as well as the Cardinal Classic's Most Offensive Player, where she scored three goals and added an assist to help the Cardinals' clinch the Cardinal Classic Championship.
Radigan's ability to find the net has been a perfect compliment to a Cardinal defense that has yielded only two points on the season.
She said she began the season intimidated at first, but it didn't take her long to adjust to a more past faced game than what she experienced in high school.
Waterbury said she's not surprised of Radigan's early collegiate success.
"She's doing what we need our strikers to do, put the ball in the back of the net and she's doing it from a distance, she's doing it from close in, she's doing it off her head," Waterbury said.
Waterbury described her impact as being "huge" and brought up the game against St. Lawrence where Radigan scored a game tying goal. The Cardinals would eventually win the game 3-1.
Radigan's first collegiate goal came against Johnson State in the second game of the season. Within the next seven minutes she added her second and third en route to a hat trick.
After failing to find the net despite several attempts in her first game, Radigan said a piece of advice from Waterbury helped her against Johnson State.
