Cardinals seal first two wins

In the number three match against Cortland, Dupell defeated Dayna Brent of 6-3, 6-3 and Katelyn Rogers defeated Freeman 6-2, 6-1 in match number five.
"This was a good win for us today," Stata said of the win against Cortland. "To come back and win four of the six singles matches for the team victory was an excellent accomplishment."
The second and third doubles matches on Saturday resulted in wins for Cortland.
Brent and Merchon Brower defeated Dupell and sophomore Katelyn Rogers 8-6.
Cortland's Katie Freeman and Lauren Funes defeated senior Danielle Circelli and junior Yasako Aso by a score of 8-4.
Cortland won the number four singles match as Brower defeated Circelli 6-3, 6-1.
Sunday's win versus Oswego was another close match.
Number two doubles was led by PSUC as Dupell and Rogers defeated Sarah Marhone and Ericka Schumacher by a score of 8-6.
The third doubles match was won by Oswego's Giana Marches and Christine Burkhart against Circelli and Takamitsu by a close score of 9-7.
Oswego won the singles match number four as Joanne Duham defeated Circelli 6-3, 6-2. In number five Marchese defeated Rodgers 6-1, 6-1 and Oswego's Victoria Kulczak defeated Takamitsu 6-1, 6-1 in singles match number six.
Next weekend the women's tennis team is playing Brockport, a match that was rained out on Sept. 9, which will take place in Utica.
Stata said he was not sure how they will match up against Brockport, and will need to do more research.
He said he will continue to work on fitness, and more conditioning to help the players become more consistent.
