Most of the time, people will clean up after themselves if they make a mess. But sometimes, the mess can be of epic proportions and no one wants to be responsible for it - let alone clean it up.

Plattsburgh State can be known as a bit of a party school. For some, Friday and Saturday nights are spent roaming the town in search of the next good time, often in the form of a beer pong tournament.

After a long weekend of carefree and careless relaxation, the dorms are bound to have some unpleasant sights and smells on Monday morning.

The bathrooms in the dorms are where most of the more nauseating sights are found. How would you react if you woke up and saw feces smeared all over the walls in your hallway and in your bathroom as if it were a mural?

Just ask custodian Linda Quesnel who has been working at the college for 17 years.

"The worst part about it was it happened on a Friday night and because we don't work weekends, it sat there until Monday morning," Quesnel said. "It had to be hosed down with a garden hose and then scraped with an ice scraper."

Justice of sorts was achieved when the student who painted the mural threw his pants away in the dumpster - and forgot to first remove his wallet. The school was then able to find him and took disciplinary action.

Rick Castine has been working at the school for six years and has seen his fair share of stomach-churning spectacles. The worst thing he has witnessed was directly after cleaning the girls' bathroom.

"A group of people were visiting and I had just finished cleaning the bathroom. Two prim and proper girls went in right after I was done. When I went back in afterwards, there were feces all over the toilet and the floor next to it," Castine said. "Maybe they didn't realize the toilet seat is the cleanest part of the bathroom."

The dorms and bathrooms are not the only places to find repulsive things. Quesnel said that when cleaning the carrels in the library, she found multiple used condoms. That same day, she found a puddle of urine in an elevator in the Angell College Center.
