The weather is finally getting warm, and that can only mean one thing - banquets and graduation will be upon us before you can blink an eye. What are the student athletes at Plattsburgh State up to after graduation? Well they are not going to be seen on television anytime soon.

Less than 5 percent of Division III athletes are estimated to make it to the pros, according to a study conducted by NCAA.org. This means they are going to be stepping into the career world and not lacing up the spikes for another game for PSUC.

Lindsay Levi is graduating this May with a degree in geology. She has been playing volleyball for all of her four years here at PSUC. This past season she represented her team as a captain. In the future she won't find herself on a volleyball court as often as she did here, however.

"I will definitely continue playing volleyball," Levi said. "I would love to coach a team and give back to younger kids what I have learned."

This summer Levi will be headed to California for an internship in resource management.

She is looking forward to the opportunity and PSUC left her with a great experience on and off the court, Levi said.

Alexander Deckert, a senior soccer player, said majoring in business entrepreneurship will take his soccer playing skills to another level. He is hopeful that this summer he will join the Major League Soccer (MLS) New York Red Bulls not on the field but in the marketing division for an internship.

"I'm not sure if it will work out - but I am hopeful - if not I will contact other MLS teams," Deckert said.

Another way Deckert is planning on staying active in the sport is by coaching. "Over the summer, I will be coaching a boy's 10-and-under-team," he said.

Katrina Liska, senior nutrition major, played for the women's soccer team. After her graduation from PSUC, Liska will continue her college career at medical school. She said she will always play the sport she grew up playing, though.
