Plattsburgh State is currently in the middle of a 11-game, 10-day stretch before the tournament.
The Cardinals had more than a tough time against the Fredonia Blue Devils.
Saturday's first game against Fredonia would end in a pummeling of the Cardinals, by a score of 21-5. Fredonia's Trey Johnson went 4-for-5 while Kevin Malaney contributed 6 RBIs.
For Plattsburgh, Zach Welch was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Brandon Humphrey was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Fredonia took the offensive charge in the sixth, scoring six runs in that inning alone.
The Blue Devils scored more than two runs in every inning but the third and fifth.
The second game had a bit of a happier ending for the Cards. The 10-inning game showed a comeback for the Cardinals after the offensive assault of the Blue Devils in first game.
The game was tied 2-2 going into the 10th when the Cards came through scoring four runs.
A series of walks and small ball helped the Cards take the game. A double by Paul Strang - with singles by Jared Jarvis, John Campbell and Welch - juiced up the Cards offense in the 6-2 win.
The Cardinals then traveled to Brockport to take part in another conference doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles took a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning of game one. Plattsburgh would fight back to tie in the third with help from Todd Hughes. Hughes hit a two-run double to tie the score at 4.
Brockport would retaliate in the next inning, however and take a 5-4 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to score as Plattsburgh could not keep up, and PSUC lost the game 9-6.
Yet the Cardinals once again, had a better second game. Todd Hughes led the Cardinal attack hitting not one - but two - two-run homers. Matt Kelley also contributed three hits to the game. As the story was similar to the Fredonia game, the score was tied at the end of regulation. The Cards went on to score eight runs in the eighth inning, overpowering the Golden Eagles to take the game, 10-2.
The Cardinals didn't have the best luck against non-conference Middlebury on Wednesday.
