This is the third time a fire has displaced PSUC students in the past two years.

The most recent displaced 43 students after series of fires heavily damaged 101 Brinkerhoff St. and and destroyed some of 88 Broad St. on April 16, 2006.

In October 2005, 32 students were displaced after a large fire destroyed an apartment building at 92 Court.

This most recent fire, and the one at 92 Court St., drew comparisons from Squires because of the size and quickness the fire spread.

"It was like this when the flames were showing way up in the sky when you're coming up on it - so that was one of those unusual ones as well," Squires said. "So that's two we've had like that, let's hope it's not a trend."

Wells, now living back home in Saranac, chose to do so because he is looking after his friend's pitbull, Kastro, and residence life buildings don't allow pets.

He said he will be looking into a new apartment for the next semester.

Had his friend not woken him up, would things have turned out differently for Wells?

"It's possible," he said.

Neither Megan nor Mindy Smith was available for comment, but both were confirmed by Executive Assistant to the president Keith Tyo to have been the students displaced in the fire.
