"Favourite Worst Nightmare" is a much more progressive and eclectic mix of music than their previous effort, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not".
The first single and first song off "Favourite Worst Nightmare" is the song "Brainstorm".
An incredibly aggressive track, this album opener tries to grasp the audience by their ears and force them to listen to the rest of the CD.
The key track of this CD that may deserve more mention than the others is "This House Is a Circus".
The chilling main guitar line is played throughout the song, leading up into the entire band chiming in making this a very explosive track.
It's always fun to hear a song flow from one right into the other, which is what "Circus" does while going right into "If You Were There, Beware", a song that will get anyone out of their seat and dancing.
"Favourite Worst Nightmare" shows the Arctic Monkeys maturing and really finding themselves. Jamie Cook seems to have really come to know the guitar with some of the more impressive riffs seen by the Arctic Monkeys.
He also has found out all the different volumes and dynamics his voice can reach with more singing rather than talking.
They have somehow figured out a way to make an album that is exceedingly better than their first record. The Monkeys have evolved.
Five stars out of five.
