Three events in past two weeks connect

But, back to Imus.
All this drama eventually led to his firing and all this crap eventually led to a day that is actually holds importance - Jackie Robinson Day.
I love baseball, and I think Jackie Robinson was a huge step in the right direction for civil rights.
Knowing this, you wouldn't believe the anger I felt when I hear his wife on ESPN say that if Robinson was alive today, he would be frustrated that only 8 percent of Major League Baseball players are black.
Would Jackie Robinson really be angry or irritated about that?
The reason for the decrease in black players can very well be the huge increase in international players that are working their way to the majors.
I doubt Robinson would lose sleep because international barriers are being demolished in today's game.
I even think he would be happy about the diverse population of race in baseball.
Like I've said before, sometimes people have to take a step back and look at the big picture.
After Jackie Robinson Day, the last and final event occurred and made the big picture clear to everybody - all races, religions and views.
On Monday morning, 33 college faculty and students, including the gunman, were shot and killed on the campus of Virginia Tech. Seeing how easy life can be taken away makes it clear - for me - that we're all on the same playing field.
I don't know about you, but I felt like an idiot for actually getting mad about Rachel Robinson's comments or getting sucked into the Imus drama after I saw the breaking news on Monday morning.
Yes, Imus was wrong.
No, Rachel Robinson can't speak for Jackie.
But, it's all trivial.
