PSUC senior Dan Mulligan, President of the Campus Democrats and Progressives, said he agreed.
"I think that it is absolutely essential that faculty, especially in New York State, should be using whatever clout they pull through their union membership to get some type of change happening with college tuition," Mulligan said.
Many PSUC students were also supportive of the UUP's objectives on campus.
"Unions are what make America function," PSUC senior David Morrison said. "Sick days, health and retirement benefits, vacation, time off with our families - these are the things that unions fight for and without them, what would happen to the hardworking men and women of this college?"
PSUC junior Michael Brenyo, president of the Plattsburgh branch of the International Socialist Organization, has his club actively advocate for greater union solidarity and supports the efforts of the UUP.
"I think unions are a very effective tool for the working class because they provide collective bargaining when workers are up against the upper-management," Brenyo said.
"Our organization is in support of the current teacher's union dispute in New York City over overtime pay. They're not getting paid the right amount for working the extra hours. It's vital to realize that unions are important and are having a contract dispute and we encourage teachers to join."
"A single worker can't do anything," Brenyo said. "You need them all united."
Bentley said she is happy about her union's success in bringing about positive change for employees at Plattsburgh State.
"I think the leadership of any union gives voice to its newest and most vulnerable member and there's something really cool about that," Bentley said.
