"The commitment to increase the use of renewable fuels is one that I am most excited to see implemented," Cross said. "It is such a great goal to look forward to."
He said he is just as excited to see each campus cap and subsequently reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent within the next seven years.
Plattsburgh State has begun its commitment towards creating a more green campus.
PSUC President John Ettling said plans are being set in place to make the campus more environmentally friendly.
On March 26, the Committee on Sustaining the SUNY College at Plattsburgh had its first meeting in which discussions addressing environmental issues were initiated.
Originally proposed by Earth and Environmental Science associate professor Timothy Mihuc and assistant professor of History Gary Kroll, the committee would help in educating the campus on global climatic changes.
Several high level PSUC administrators were present at the meeting, including Vice President for Student Affairs Bill Laundry, Vice President for Business Affairs John Homburger and Facilities Director Stan Supinski.
"The committee's recommendations would help to make the campus more environmentally sensitive," Ettling said.
Kroll said the committee will allow for innovative ideas from both faculty and students.
The committee's goal is to bring students, faculty members and decision makers together to plan for the future in terms of energy efficiency, Kroll said.
He said through this committee students will be given an outlet to express their ideas to make the campus more energy efficient.
"I want our campus to be beautiful," Kroll said.
He said increased greening efforts on campus will make this desire come to fruition.
