A vicious nor'easter swept up the East coast Sunday and smashed into New York and New England. The storm is expected to stall over the region until Monday evening while an abundance of moisture from the Atlantic Ocean feeds the system, bringing heavy snow and rain.
Slick roads caused numerous accidents around Clinton County Sunday evening. An emergency dispatcher estimated that there had been near a dozen accidents around the county by 8 p.m., many that included personal injuries. The Cardinal Points police scanner was peppered with accident calls Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service in Burlington had issued a winter storm warning and anticipated wet, heavy snow to cause power outages throughout the region.
Five to 10 inches of snow was expected by Monday morning, with total snow accumulation reaching seven to 14 inches by midnight.
