Whodunit?

What was the motive?

Will they be allowed to get away with it?

These are the questions that mystery theater always poses to the audience.

On Friday in Mason Hall, though, it was up to the audience to not just ask, but answer the questions too.

This was the idea behind Mason Hall's Murder Mystery night, co-sponsored by Moffitt Hall Council with the help of the Moffitt Hall Mafia.

Last weekend, at TGI Friday, the Mason Hall basement was transformed into "The Library," a 1930s invitation-only speakeasy operated by Don Donato "Baby Face" Brundizzi.

Seven campus students took on the roles of various fictional Mafia characters in the middle of a plot to murder the Don.

Those in attendance, the Don's "honored guests and closest friends," were given the task of questioning the suspects in an attempt to crack the case and expose the murderer.

Whoever came up with the right answer in the fastest time was given a prize, with prizes going to the first three correct guesses - a SanDisc Sansa MP3 player, a Plattsburgh State hoodie, and a portable CD player.

There was a definite sense of competition among those playing the game, in all about 20 students from all over campus.

There was a certain amount of comparing notes among those trying to solve the case, but there was also a great deal of secrecy involved when people got what they thought was a major clue or a good breakthrough.

"I thought that all of the people did a good job," junior Christine Aykroyd said. "It really kept me on my toes."

"Everyone did a good job," her friend Amy Gimma said.

For those who just wanted the classic feel of TGI Friday events that Mason Hall offers, there were the regular options as well, including classic Nintendo games, such as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project", pool and air hockey.

"It was a pretty good turnout," PSUC sophomore Andrew Krug said. "I liked how they kept the flavor of past (TGI Fridays), by keeping the Nintendo and stuff."

"It was fun," Matthew Hamm said "Mason is our dorm, we love this hall. It's the one people come to have fun."
