On Wednesday, the Cardinals will host St. Lawrence in non-conference play. St. Lawrence is currently fourth in its conference with an overall record of 6-4-2 and a record of 2-2-1 in conference play.
St. Lawrence is coming off a 7-0 win against Clarkson and is 5-2-1 in their last eight games.
On the other hand, the Cards are currently second in the SUNYAC standings with an 11-2-2 overall record and a record of 6-2-0 in conference play.
The Cards also have not lost their last seven games. The team is coming off back-to-back conference wins last weekend against Cortland and Oswego State.
The Cards beat Oswego State 4-1 to improve their record to 10-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the conference. Following the loss, Oswego dropped to 6-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference.
Against Oswego, the Cards got off to a quick start with three goals in the first half including one three minutes into the game by defender John LoGuirato. Also scoring goals in the first half for the Cards were Mark Misiak in the 17th minute and Justen Legge in the 35th minute.
"We were fantastic in the first half," Head Coach Chris Waterbury said. "We couldn't have asked for a better start."
For Oswego, Pat Hurley scored in the 67th minute on a penalty kick, snapping PSUC's scoreless streak against opponents at 626:37 total minutes. It was the first goal allowed by Plattsburgh since Sept. 23 against Geneseo in a 3-2 overtime win.
Brandon Gilkes scored PSUC's fourth and final goal in the 85th minute.
The goal was Gilkes's seventh on the season, which leads the team.
"I was disappointed in the second half," said Waterbury. "We let up a bit mentally but overall it was a great team effort and we played in sync."
Goalie John San Filippo had five saves in the win.
"I thought we played really well in the first half, we took advantage of a lot of good opportunities," said Filippo. "But overall we played pretty good I thought."
The following day the Cards played Cortland and came out successful again with a 2-0 win. The win improved the Cards to 11-2-1 and extended its winning streak to seven games. On the other side, the loss drops Cortland to 6-6-3 and 4-3-1 in the conference.
