The Student Association’s three main films — “Valentine’s Day,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Date Night” — are all sold out. In fact, all 230 “Alice in Wonderland” tickets were gone in five hours.
The SA arranged to have three movie viewings on campus and the other three at Cumberland 12 Cinemas. All the movies will not be previewed at Cumberland 12 due to the lack of transportation, which the SA has not yet provided.
“Cumberland 12 (Cinemas) is great to work with,” said Kara Lalonde, vice president for the activities coordination broad. “We will continue to follow through with the three on campus and three on Cumberland (12 Cinemas).”
Despite the upcoming movie releases, Plattsburgh State will be showing other recently released films on campus, such as “Sherlock Holmes” on March 28.
“The films are a balanced act,” said Lalonde. “We aim for the movies that are (not) out in theaters, but not yet on DVD.”
Last semester, the film committee came up with the idea to collaborate with Cumberland 12 and offer PSUC students exclusive, discounted tickets for upcoming movies. Included with admission, each student gets a small popcorn and a small drink.
“It’s a $15 experience for two or three bucks,” said Lalonde.
Tickets are normally $2 unless, like “Alice in Wonderland,” the film has the option of being seen in 3D.
At the end of each semester, the film committee plans for the approaching semester. They will continue with the three on campus and three at Cumberland 12 Cinemas and the SA hopes to provide transportation for students in the future.
